If you are making wet cleaning or collecting liquids, remove the diffuser and replace it with the grid-type anti-spillage inset. This does not interfere with the free movement of the float. In case of suction huge amount of water (more than 5 litres), the float floats up and cuts off the air flow. The suction power reduces and the sound of the vacuum cleaner changes.
Switch the appliance off, empty the water and you can continue cleaning.
